It sure has been awhile!  over a couple years in fact!

I apologize for the long wait.... I kind of forgot about this blog... sorry about that :(

However, I feel inspired to post again!  I got crafty in the kitchen today and I wanted to share!

So today I had realized that we were out of dishwasher soap... and we couldn't get to the store today to buy more.  So what to do.... why make my own of course!  I adore making our own cleaning stuff, it makes me feel more accomplished and good about myself.... plus in a lot of ways it's way better than premade store bought stuff.

So, I went online to see what recipes I can do.... and thankfully I found one!  I'll site the website below:

https://happymoneysaver.com/homemade-dishwasher-detergent/

Simple and straight forward, I like it!  However, I did not have the unsweetened lemonade powder it calls for, so instead I added a few drops of lavender oil and mixed it in until mixed in well.

Oh, and I also cut the recipe down to 1/4 of the amounts called for, just in case the recipe was a flop.

I ran a cycle in my dishwasher with the powder and the results is: Meh...

It left a powdery white spots on some dishes.  I would recommend mixing this in your blender for a couple minutes until super super fine.  That might help reduce or get rid of white residue left behind.

I'll go over my dishes to wipe off the residue and blend up whats left of my dishwasher powder, maybe find a way to turn it into a liquid detergent.  See if that will work better.

Another crafty thing I did today was make our own laundry soap!  I've done this before and I'm more than convinced it cleans and deodarizes your clothes better than storebought premade laundry soap.  I'll site the website below:

I've always used a Fels-Naptha bar myself.  Smells better to me.  I grate it with my clean cheese grater and put that and the other ingredients in my blender and run it for a few minutes, just to get the pieces of Fels-Naptha as fine as possible.  Today I did something a little different:  just like with the dishwasher soap, I added lavender oil for extra scent and of course the properties lavender oil offers (anti-septic and calming to name a couple).  I also added baking soda as well for more odor fighting power (we have REALLY stinky socks!)

Worked like a charm as always!!  Our clothes smelled so good! and felt so soft too!  If static cling wasn't a thing in the dryer, you almost wouldn't need fabric softener too.

What I love about this recipe is you only need 1 tablespoon a load, 2 tablespoons max.  Its really concentrated stuff so you don't need a lot.  I've found this recipe lasts for 64 loads

I also came across another website for homemade laundry soap that sounds like a great choice as well:  I will site the website below:

I'll try this recipe out next time we need more laundry soap and let ya'll know how it is.  If its as good as it claims it is, It may be my new go to and will use from now on.  Who can beat a recipe that makes enough for 504 loads?!?

Thats all I have for now!  If you have any DIY cleaning recipe you would like me to review, please send me ideas and will try them out when I can.  Sweet dreams! 💖
